TONI&GUY International Artistic Director, scoops London Hairdresser of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.
Celebrating the very best of home-grown hairdressing, the BHA’s brings together top hairdressing talent from across the country and is famed for being the biggest night in the hairdressing calendar. Philipp Haug – TONI&GUY Sloane Square, was named London Hairdresser of the Year, confirming his reputation as one of the best hairdressers in the country. Commenting on his collection, “The inspiration came from a Black and White shoot that our Creative Director Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck created back in 2009 for the Alignment Collection. I loved the expensive and minimalistic feeling within her collection and wanted to combine that with some very strong perimeter focused shapes, plus a rawness to the photography that shows the strength of the models features”.
“It is such a compliment to even be nominated for London Hairdresser of the Year, especially as we are celebrating Toni Mascolo’s legacy; these awards are things that always made him proud and it’s such an honour to receive this accolade”. – Philipp Haug, TONI&GUY International Artistic Director.
The BHA’s feature 16 categories in total: nine regional which cover all areas of the UK, six specialist that recognise the skills needed in specific areas, plus the highly coveted and most prestigious award: British Hairdresser of the Year.
Unlike other accolades, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards is based on photographic entries that demonstrate the stylist or technician’s capable ability as well as creative flair.
The star-studded ceremony took place on Monday 26th November 2018 at London’s Grosvenor House, on Park Lane. Hosted by Rylan Clarke-Neale alongside HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr.
Commenting on the win, Jayne Lewis-Orr said; “For the past 34 years the British Hairdressing Awards have celebrated the very best talent, creativity and insight within our industry – and this year is no exception. I’d like to extend my warmest congratulations to Philipp for demonstrating fantastic technical dexterity as evidenced in the collection he submitted, and also for being such a great ambassador for British hairdressing.”
More than 1,500 gathered to recognise and reward hairdressers who are pushing the creative boundaries and make this industry one of which we can all be proud.
