Sylvestre Finold named Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the Year 2018/19

TONI&GUY Educator Sylvestre Finold, scoops Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.

Celebrating the very best of home-grown hairdressing, the BHA’s brings together top hairdressing talent from across the country and is famed for being the biggest night in the hairdressing calendar. Sylvestre Finold, TONI&GUY Wimbledon was named Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the Year, confirming his reputation as one of the best hairdressers in the country. Commenting on the collection, “The inspiration came from some fashion sketches I found on social media, combined with bright colours and lighting, taken from Japanese manga. In this collection, I wanted to show how you can make Avant-Garde beautiful, but also keep it feminine through the process of styling and makeup”.

The BHA’s feature 16 categories in total: nine regional which cover all areas of the UK, six specialist that recognise the skills needed in specific areas, plus the highly coveted and most prestigious award: British Hairdresser of the Year.

Unlike other accolades, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards is based on photographic entries that demonstrate the stylist or technician’s capable ability as well as creative flair.

The star-studded ceremony took place on Monday 26th November 2018 at London’s Grosvenor House, on Park Lane. Hosted by Rylan Clark-Neale alongside HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr.

Commenting on the win, Jayne Lewis-Orr said; “Avant Garde hair is the ultimate in hair art. It is designed to inspire awe and wonderment at how the styles, shapes and overall images are created. Sylvestre’s collection was in a league of its own and I know all the judges were incredibly impressed.”

More than 1,500 gathered to recognise and reward hairdressers who are pushing the creative boundaries and make this industry one of which we can all be proud.
