Jon Wilsdon named North Western Hairdresser of the Year 2019/20

TONI&GUY International Artistic Director scoops North Western Hairdresser of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.

Celebrating the very best of home-grown hairdressing, the BHA’s brings together top hairdressing talent from across the country and is famed for being the biggest night in the hairdressing calendar
The star-studded ceremony took place on Monday 25th November 2019 at London’s Grosvenor House, on Park Lane. Hosted by Rylan Clarke alongside HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr, more than 1,500 gathered to recognise and reward hairdressers who are pushing the creative boundaries and make this industry one of which we can all be proud.
The BHA’s feature 16 categories in total: nine regional which cover all areas of the UK, six specialist that recognise the skills needed in specific areas, plus the highly coveted and most prestigious award: British Hairdresser of the Year

TONI&GUY International Artistic Director, Jon WIlsdon was named North-Western Hairdresser of the Year, with his winning collection which embraced the model’s natural tonalities and enhancing their natural beauty with tones of beige, auburn and gold.
Jon claimed the status as North Western Hairdresser of the Year 2019, after his phenomenal original hair work demonstrated not only technical skill, but also creative vision and comprehension of current trends.
He said, “With my collection I wanted to utilise natural textures within the hair and use them to amplify shape. The collection still maintains a uniformity – despite the cross section of length and movement due to the natural tones within the make-up, clothes styling and back-drop. The colour palette reflects the en-beige trend that we’ve seen emerging within the fashion and hair industries”.
He commented: “Thank you so much to our Global Creative Director, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck for the opportunity, Cos Sakkas for mentoring me and the rest of the TONI&GUY family – thank you so much”
Unlike other accolades, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards is based on photographic entries that demonstrate the stylist or technician’s capability as well as creative flair.
“Sponsoring HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards is an enormous privilege,” says Julian Crane, Schwarzkopf Professional General Manager UK and Ireland. “We are delighted to join with Hairdressers Journal International to recognise the very best in UK hair
talent. Hairdressing is an industry of endless creativity and the breadth of ideas in this year’s awards was outstanding. I am absolutely delighted for the winners and they should be so proud of how they represent the pinnacle of skill in our industry.”
